I don't know about you
and the rest of the world, but I love beads. They are such fascinating
items. Who in our distant past thought it would be fun to wear
strange rocks, bones, wood and other foreign items on our bodies. And how many
dollars have changed hands because of this wonderful exhibitionism.
I've collected beads for years and just love handling them. I wish
I had kept more that passed through my hands. But alas, the dollar
tempted me too much. I do still have several chevrons that are now
valued at over $200 each. And I have beads that are 100 to 800
years old. Don't you just know they could tell you a story or two.
I prefer using handmade beads made from gifts from nature, but will use
anything that gets the job done. I've made beads from wood, glass,
paper, silk, acrylic paint, sea shells, button, magazines, tiles, puzzle
pieces, etc, etc. As I have time I
will get some instructions together for some techniques for creating
your own beads. I'll make a "pack rat" out of you, to. You
simply cannot throw anything away; so start that box of "have to
keep" items. |
