GALLERY ABSTRACTS
The abstract pieces I do are
my own creation that utilizes a lot of different types of materials. I
like to experiment.
I tell my students in the Mixed Media class....
"we will mix a
lot of materials and...if it does not EXPLODE then we will frame
it"
The technique showing here goes something like this.
1)Mount my watercolor paper on heavy board like foam core or 3x so it will stay as
flat as possible while working. Mounting board is slightly undersized
to
allow the decked
edge of the watercolor paper to be visible.
2) experiment will lots of paints,
(watercolor, liquid watercolor, inks, gold leaf, bronzing power, papers,
alcohol,
etc) some will not like others each other
and you can get some interesting
effects. I just love when it does
something strange.
3) let it dry and if you are happy with it them STOP.
4)
If you want then work on it some more. I've had some I continued to work
on for 3 or 4 years before I thought
them "finished".
5) dry and I
usually put a heavy glaze over them. I like the two part epoxy
glazes.
6) sometimes I will glaze and paint some more and glaze again.....many
times. coool effects.
I usually float frame them...sometimes with mats and glass and
sometimes no glass. I've even done this technique on
stretched
canvas (GALLERY STYLE) with fun results. |
