| As you are aware there are a number of paints on the market to paint on
your clothes, but this is my favorite way. I use artist tube acrylics
because they have more pigment in them to work with. The jars of paint
have very little pigment.
I mix JoSonja's textile medium with it to
the consistency that I like. Some things I want lots of paint and some
I want to "thin" out. I thin some with water but that does weaken your
mixture so be sure to thin with medium and water. Then just paint
away.
The reason I like this method is that you can mix your own
colored glitter textile paints. If your local store is out of your
color..... no problem,
just mix glitter of your choice and the textile medium and paint away.
I've even mixed crushed artist pastel chalks into the medium and made a
really fine fabric paint. I've used face makeup, eye shadow and a number of
other pigments to make my own paint with JoSonja's Textile Medium
Be sure
to put something inside the shirt so your paints don't bleed through. Card
board covered in a black plastic bags works great.
I was painting on my clothes before there was
anything on the market to do it with. |
